I’m looking to work with some photographers (only serious) who shoot portraits, still life, blahblahblah. I need to build up my retouching portfolio, not to mention open Photoshop after not using it for a few months. I’m not looking for you to pay me, just allow me to retouch your photos. Interning this morning flew by. I had to find and put together all of Michael Thompson’s W covers in order and get them ready for a client. If you look at magazines, you’ve definitely seen some of his work.

Moon Boots
First rule of internships: Do NOT wear your 2 1/2 inch Steve Madden boots because you WILL regret it. Yes, I made that mistake this morning. I looked damn good, but of course, after the first hour wanted to rip my boots off from standing so much. Today was my first day at Jed Root. If you’ve never heard of them (probably not), they’re an agency that manages Photographers, Makeup Artists, Illustrators, etc. of the fashion industry. My job as an intern is to go through the photographer’s portfolios and update them, take tear sheets out, file them, etc. It’s pretty fun, I’m not going to lie. I love photography (obviously), and fashion is my favorite subject so getting to look at fashion ads and spreads all day is my kind of thing.
Anyway! On the subway ride home, I sat across from this woman. Doesn’t she know that the 70’s ended a long time ago?
Those, ladies and gentleman, are Moon Boots. Popularized in the 1970’s and then unfortunately, made a slight comeback when Napoleon Dynamite was released.
